Lana Condor’s journey to finding her dream home began unexpectedly, during a conservation trip in Vietnam. “I was in the jungle when Anthony called me, saying, ‘Oh my God, I think I found the perfect home,’” she recalls. “He walked me through it virtually, and I fell in love, especially with the backyard. I could instantly imagine our dogs enjoying it.” Upon returning to Los Angeles, Condor toured the property in person and knew it was the one. “It felt like the home where we could start the next chapter of our lives,” she says.
A Labor of Love and Design
Though the home had “good bones,” it required extensive renovations to align with Condor and her husband, Anthony De La Torre’s vision. That’s where Joseph Monsour, a longtime friend and interior designer, came in. “At first, Lana thought we’d just need some paint and minor updates,” Monsour says. “But as always, it snowballed. We ended up redoing every surface in the house.”

“We’re big sensory people,” Condor explains, describing the primary suite’s sitting area, which is swathed in sheer fabric panels. The A. Rudin custom sectional sofa, designed by Monsour, anchors the space, while the French brass-and-glass tiered coffee table was sourced at an auction. The chandelier, from Paul Ferrante, adds a touch of elegance. In the living room, Sixpenny sofas pair with a central Guerlain cocktail table from Ebanista. Spanish Baroque oak chairs and an antique oak console, both from private estate sales, bring a sense of history and craftsmanship.
The renovations were both structural and aesthetic. Walls were removed to open up the kitchen and family room, and a powder room and pantry were added. Monsour worked with outdoor designer Patricia Benner to ensure the lush gardens were visible from every room. “They saw the house in 80 different phases and stages,” Monsour says of the couple, who lived in the home during the transformation. “Lana would see something, then she’d go away to shoot something. She’d come back a month or so later, and it would be completely different.”
A Home Rooted in Inspiration and Functionality
The kitchen, now an all-white sanctuary, features walls in Dunn-Edwards’s Milk Mustache and millwork in Farrow & Ball’s Wimborne White. A Lazzaro Donati oil painting hangs in the background, while 1960s Italian Murano glass pendants from 1stDibs illuminate the island. Brass finishes, including the faucet and pot filler from Newport Brass, add a modern edge. The counter stools, reupholstered in Perennials fabric, pair with a Miele cooktop and Sub-Zero refrigerator.

In the dining room, a Regency table by Rose Tarlow is surrounded by vintage Móveis Teperman chairs from Billings Auction in LA. An abstract still life by Olga Bolgar hangs in a 24-karat gold frame, while ferns from Inner Gardens rest on classic pedestals from Dennis & Leen. Condor’s travels to Italy inspired the design, with Monsour incorporating durable yet beautiful materials, including performance fabrics and indoor-outdoor flooring. “We wanted a home we could live in and not be afraid to mess up,” Condor says.
Texture and subtle color define the interiors. Venetian plaster, silk wallpaper, and linen-clad walls add layers of sophistication. “We started with the idea of an all-cream palette,” Monsour says. “But as we explored fabrics and finishes, we introduced soft colors and warmth inspired by the surrounding setting.” Auction finds and family heirlooms bring depth and personality. “Every room has a special antique that serves as a conversation piece,” Monsour notes. Condor’s late mother’s artwork and collected mementos are displayed throughout the home, making it “my pride and joy.”

The library features a custom desk fashioned from painted walnut with a brass edge, while the antique chair is paired with an oil on canvas work by William Wolfson. The powder room is clad in Fromental’s dusty pink silk wallpaper, with a George II Style Burton-Ching Regency giltwood mirror sourced from Prospr Antiques. Each room, including the glam pink room with custom butterflies from MJ Atelier, reflects a blend of artistry and personal significance.
The home, designed with functionality in mind, now hosts daily rituals and events. “Our Sunday mornings are my favorite,” Condor says. “We’ll have tea in the loggia, watch our dogs play, and just soak in the beauty.” For Monsour, “This house isn’t just about how it looks. It’s about how it lives.” For Condor, the journey to create this sanctuary has been transformative. “This is the first place that feels like forever,” she says. “I’m a nomad by nature, but this home makes me never want to leave.”
