Jennifer Davis, owner and principal designer of Davis Interiors, transformed a once-empty space into a studio that reflects her passion for design. The studio, located in St. Louis Park, Minnesota, was initially “a shell” with concrete floors, exposed concrete block, and no windows.
Davis recalls that natural light was “non-negotiable” for her and her team, so they added windows throughout the space. The studio’s location, just west of Minneapolis, allows for easy access to client sites and a sense of community.
The renovated studio features a warm, layered aesthetic, with a foyer that includes a barrel ceiling and a cozy seating area. The space is filled with favorites from brands like House of Rohl, Thibaut, and Visual Comfort.
The Studio’s Design
The studio’s design is thoughtful and organized, with a sample room that features custom built-ins for fabrics, tile, and other materials. A conference room and additional office space provide dedicated areas for client meetings and work.
A petite kitchen and bathroom, which Davis says is “everyone’s favorite room,” add to the studio’s functionality. The bathroom even features a window seat that’s “just long enough” for a nap, which Davis considers a design win.
A Reflection of Passion
For Davis, the studio represents more than just a beautiful workspace – it’s a reflection of her career and life built around her passion for design. “This work is who I am,” she says. “It’s woven into how I see the world, how I connect with people, and the life I’ve built.”
Davis loves sitting down with clients, building relationships, and connecting people to each other. She also enjoys building her business and contributing to the design industry as a whole. The studio is a physical representation of her passion and dedication to her craft.
While the studio itself is organized, the days spent inside are unpredictable, with a mix of client meetings, job sites, and vendor meetings. Davis starts each day with a morning brief to stay on top of her tasks and priorities.
